EDUC 5243 Week 2 Blog Assignment
SMART Goal: By December 2024, at least 85% of the students will be proficient in using two new digital tools aligned with Empowered Learner ISTE standards to achieve the target scores for their mathematics benchmark assessment through practicing skills four days per week.
Action Steps to support
the attainment of the SMART goal.
- Students will be introduced to ISTE standard 1.1 Empowered
Learner. (1 week)
2. Introduction to the two digital tools (Classkick
and I-Ready). Familiarize students with the different features of the tools and
opportunities to do mock trials. (2 weeks)
- Monitor
student engagement in each application to ensure proficiency in self-paced
or targeted math skills mastered. Provide feedback in real-time. (4
weeks -ongoing process)
- Utilize
the digital tools to work collaboratively on assigned tasks. Provide
feedback in real-time. (3 weeks)
- Evaluate
and modify strategies to enhance student proficiency using digital tools
to improve math skills. Use
Survey Monkey to receive feedback from students on their preference for
the digital tools. (2 week)
Technology
Integration Framework
The
Triple E framework supports the attainment of the SMART goal by enabling the
educator to evaluate the effectiveness of the two digital tools in achieving
the learning goals for the students at different intervals during the
implementation. The Triple E framework also plays an integral role in the
execution of the action steps as it entails the engagement of learning,
enhancement of learning, and extension of learning, which are its three
components. The educator will incorporate technology in the teaching and
learning process to engage students in learning more about the content area and
provide opportunities for synchronous collaboration and asynchronous tasks. Interactive
activities in the form of game-related are features of these tools that will
engage and stimulate the students’ interest as they think critically about how
to solve content-related problems.
Learning
opportunities for students will be enhanced through differentiated and
scaffolded learning through these tools as work is self-paced and tiered based
on the student’s abilities. The use of these digital tools will provide feedback
to students in real-time so that adjustments can be made to strategies or
increase in usage.
The
extension component of this framework enables the educator to assign tasks
within these two digital learning tools that are authentic and related to real-world
scenarios so students can make connections as they work collaboratively or
independently. Learning opportunities can
also occur through connecting with other students.
ISTE
students' standard Empowered Learner 1.1.a and the educator standard Analyst
2.7.c are addressed in the SMART goal in that students can set targeted goals of
weekly or monthly usages and achievements, receive feedback, and make
adjustments to improve their math skills and eventually earn the desired
benchmark results. The educator will use the assessment data to guide
instructions and tailor targeted skills.
The
ISTE Educator standards Collaborator 2.4b, Designer 2.5a, 2.5b, and Facilitator
2.6a and student standard Empowered
Learner 1.1b are all addressed, respectively in the action steps. The educator
and students can work together to discover the digital tools and make
adjustments through mock trials and everyday usage, the technology fosters
differentiation that caters to the diverse student population's needs, learning
is associated with the curriculum standards and provides opportunities for
authentic learning to be accomplished, and students can take ownership of their
learning through weekly or monthly monitoring of their progress. Students are
provided with feedback in real-time or through one-to-one conferences that can
be used to improve their practices.
As
a facilitator of peer learning educational leader, ISTE standards visionary
planner 3.2a and 3.2b were addressed as both educators collaborated to develop
the SMART goal and some of the action steps of incorporating technology to
engage and improve students’ learning experiences. Collaborating with another
educator enabled us to share ideas, learn from each other, clarify
misconceptions, and provide leadership role practice that will be eventually
beneficial to us.
The
essential conditions support peer-facilitating learning and the implementation
of the effective use of technology to improve the learning opportunities of the
students by educators sharing their visions, implementing the plan with the use
of high quality learning activities and content and then evaluate and make
alterations.

Hey Trecia,
ReplyDeleteNice write-up.
I like how you gave the time like for each step of the goal to make it even more specific. It would also help the teacher to stay on track.
